ABOUT US

The Foundation funds research into both wet and dry macular diseases.

The Macular Disease Foundation was started in August 1987 with two major goals:

  1. To enhance the delivery of existing services to visually impaired people and their families,
  2. To try to meet the needs of the visually impaired

The Foundation continues to conduct educational seminars about Macular Disease (central vision loss) and resources and services, including visual aids that are available. The MDF is currently establishing a resource and referral center where people can learn about and examine different types of adaptive aids and equipment.

The Foundation also encourages the development of local support groups that give Macular Disease patients the opportunity to meet on a regular basis with each other.

The Macular Disease Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Membership is available to everyone. Members are sent announcements of meetings, activities and seminars in the area sponsored by the MDF and other organizations.
